Project Finding- Allowing custodial parents in divorced families to explore issues that concerns their children

Project Finding

Project Finding is an applied theatre performance that is aimed at the custodial parents of youths.  At the same time giving them a platform for the exploration of solutions.

In Project Finding, the use of Playback Forum Theatre will help parents to seek alternatives on how to communicate effectively with their children.

WE WILL PERFORM THE STORIES OF OUR PARTICIPANTS SPONTANEOUSLY!

Through the use of the Playback Forum Theatre, it gives these parents a chance to empathize with the struggles their child/children had face.

There will be 1 performance for every 4 months.  Each performance would revolve around a certain theme that allows the custodial parents to explore ways on how to  communicate more effectively with their children.  Our targeted participants are Low-SES custodial parents.

Themes:

  • Conflicts in the family
  • Maintaining your parent-child relationship
  • Sustaining the family after being divorced
  • Coping with work and family
  • Finding support for oneself
  • Finding support for the family

Objectives of Project Found:

  • Allow custodial parents to understand the struggles that their children are going through
  • To allow custodial parents explore ways to communicate effectively with their child
  • To allow custodial parents to find ways to cope with their new life and family after divorce

Project Found will be piloted at family centres in Singapore
