Divorce in Singapore

On average, Singapore sees about 6,000 to 7,000 divorces every year. The average number of marriages each year is about 23,000, which would mean that more than one in four marriages in Singapore would result in a divorce. Divorce is more common in younger couples (those aged 20 to 24 in particular) as compared to older ones. What is more alarming is that the number of couples getting divorced seems to be rising each year.

There are several reasons for divorce. Sometimes, arguments and disagreements (which may result from the lack of communication) between the couple would lead to them growing apart. One party committing adultery is also one of the possible causes. There are also cases that result from spousal abuse and neglect; as well as from problems resulting from gambling, drug abuse and other cases of addiction.

While the reasons for divorce may be between the couples, the effects of the divorce are devastating and can affect many people around them.  And, the one that is most affect is their children.  This is why our company focuses on helping these under privilege children to cope with the struggles that they had faced in a divorced family.
